My experience: I entered the world of accountancy in 2007, where I gained my AAT qualification at Bishops, completing accounts preparation work and book-keeping for small clients. I then moved on to a top 10 firm to complete my ICAEW qualification whilst working in the audit team. I quickly moved up the ranks from audit junior to audit manager, and I completed my qualification in 2012,picking up the Carter prize for top examination results along the way. During my time in audit I worked on a wide variety of clients in different industries, namely manufacturing, construction and education.
Before starting my family, in 2015 I moved to spend several years working for a large UK Plc as a finance manager and finance business partner. I got to see accountancy from the other side of the fence, preparing management accounts and financial analysis, ensuring systems were optimised and working alongside operational staff members to produce detailed forecasts. I understand the pressure of “being audited” and can now apply this to my approach when auditing clients.
I rejoined Bishops in January 2023 and am excited for what the future holds in our growing audit firm, Bishops Audit Limited.
Interesting fact about me: Whilst I was on maternity leave, I published my own children’s book, “Lottie and Lou”, a story inspired by my daughter and my childhood pet. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, Zumba classes and tap dancing.
